American Festivals, for orchestra, chorus, and soloists
A new symphonic oratorio celebrating America – its history, culture, and natural beauty – through four quintessential holidays

American Festivals is a four-movement symphonic oratorio dedicated to our most unique and defining national holidays: July 4th, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, and Thanksgiving. The poetic texts are by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., who beyond his international fame as a golf course architect, is a gifted poet, with a keen perspective on our American heritage and identity. The complete work was premiered to great success at the 2008 Festival del Sole in Napa Valley, CA, organized by IMG Artists, who has signed on to help produce and organize forthcoming performances. The four movements may likewise be performed individually, as has taken place by the Charleston Symphony (2004 Spoleto Festival), Oakland Symphony, and Memphis Symphony, among others. Several future performances are currently being organized. Interested orchestras and concert venues are invited to contact Charles Letourneau of IMG Artists at or the composer at for more information.

"A stirring world premiere of an important new work… symphonic fireworks… a rousing bit of Americana… delivering at times the same impact found in the evocative quotations of Charles Ives!"
L. Pierce Carson, Napa Valley Register
